Amsterdam, November 18 2014 – Fontem Ventures, Britain’s leading e-cigarette company, welcomes today’s comments by John Britton, director of the UK Centre for Tobacco and Alcohol Studies, which suggest that electronic vaping products (EVPs) offer a huge potential benefit to public health by helping smokers to shift to an alternative source of nicotine.
Marc Michelsen, Director of Communications and Public Affairs at Fontem Ventures said: “Fontem Ventures welcomes John Britton’s comments about the potential benefits of EVPs to public health.
“Mr Britton joins a long line of experts who believe that EVPs could make a significant contribution to public health including Professor Robert West at University College London; the National Addiction College at Kings College London; the Tobacco Dependence Unit at Queen Mary University; and the pressure group Action on Smoking and Health (ASH).”
According to ASH, two million people in the UK are already regular users of EVPs. These people are making the choice to use EVPs because they are searching for an alternative to tobacco which better suits their life-style.
John Britton was speaking at Holyrood’s Health Committee in Scotland.
